St. Jude Florentine Statue 5"

St. Jude is the patron saint of desperate cases and lost causes.  He is also often shown in icons with a flame around his head, this represents his presence at Pentecost, when he received the Holy Spirit with the other apostles.

Many believed that since St. Jude was often overlooked in prayer, he became in prayer, he became eager to help anyone that asked him intercede.  So much so that he would help with almost any lost cause or hopeless case in order to prove his devotion to Christ.
